A note from me to my great visitors: YOU I have just begun the LVN program at the community college, meaning I work full time and attend college full time. Please forgive my intermittent appearance at the site until I can become acclimated to this full schedule. I will enter here as often as I can and try to keep all up to date. Thanks to all who help me keep everyone aware of all the happenings and bring me all the great news to share. I have just been made aware that El Flamboyan Cafe has closed. I am very sorry to hear this, I never did get a chance to visit the cafeteria style restaurant. I have seen many strides for us here in Austin, as well as many set backs. Those of you that rely on volunteers and donations, please acknowledge the people that serve you for FREE and strive through belief in your mission to keep your dream alive. And while I know there is a recession going on, let us pull together to support the businesses that try to bring home to us. I have started to mail tiny donations of at least $5.00 here and there to various individuals and businesses here that are trying to be philanthropic and/or bring us a sense of belonging through or music or goods. It sounds like nothing but $5.00 is a fortune to me and is at least a token of my gratitude for their presence. It's the cover charge for the salsa club I couldn't dance at, but still want to support...it's a measly gallon of gas to keep that salsa promoter driving to those meet ups....it's about the price to replace a hen a fox stole for that lady that gives free eggs from her chicken farm to anyone that wants them and in doing so feeds people without asking for a dime... I have never been paid a dime to keep this site going, although one year Ms. Claribel did pay for my web hosting, Dios la bendiga! Please write me and let me know how we can help each other become a community that one day will hold its own Puerto Rican day parade...have weekly salsa meet ups with Fawn...have picnics with outdoor flea markets displaying our goods and where we can exchange business cards....... Remember: "Si ves herido a un Borincano...dale la mano que el es TU hermano!" Mi gente - let us pull together please... Se les quiere de gratis, Aurea La Jibara Educada
